Our overarching aim is to inspire pupils to become keen geographers who understand the core principals of Geography as a discipline.
In our knowledge-based curriculum, we create opportunities for pupils to have a comprehensive understanding of the environment at a local, national and international scale. To help children organise their understanding of the subject, knowledge is grouped into different categories which are consistently referenced throughout the learning journey.
The study of physical geography and the physical processes which take place in our world are explored and progressively embedded through a range of topic areas, such as mountains, natural disasters and water.
This is similarly true of human geography, and the processes we go through to shape our world, such as trade, transport and tourism. Learning to support the understanding and interpretation of human geography includes learning at different scales, for example we study Greece, Sutton Coldfield and the immediate local area.
Our fieldwork focuses on the school and local environment in all year groups, and children have opportunities to explore, research and analyse contrasting locations through educational visits further afield.
